Entwurf einer erweiterten Grammatik des Kontinuums
Can reality be grasped by language?
Which new alphabet needs to be developed?
Based on their artistic-exploratory areas of expertise, Gansterer and Piringer propose in their performance „Entwurf einer Grammatik des Kontinuums“ („Draft of a grammar of the continuum”) to research the possibilities of capturing space, time and body awareness and their translation into drawing, text, movement and sound.

In his drawing performances the visual artist Gansterer deals with the question of the visualization of thought processes. The digital poet Piringer enables the complexity of the speech act to be experienced live in his sound performances through text animations. Together, Gansterer and Piringer use short reactions to mutually develop a performative expansion of the known alphabet through characters, gestures, sounds and materials. The artists use digital technology such as cameras, laptops, effect devices and software specially written for performance, as well as their bare bodies, crayons, ink, chalk, paper, adhesive tapes and found materials.
In the post-digital sense, the media and spheres merge into a new range of tools. Projected letters follow their movements in space, the draftsman’s pen expands the digital image and its squeaking on paper simultaneously generates the soundtrack. Informed by their long-term collabortion in projects (as the Institute for transacoustic research and in the recent research project Choreo-graphic Figures), active exploration is the central focus of their methodology. Visual-acoustic theses are set up, checked in a performative setting, modified and subjected to a new validation. Thus an expanded alphabet of performnatie signs and a even gramar-in-the-making is created iteratively, which is always related to the given context and the specific environment of the performance.
